Check the pipe from the base of the cyclone to the block. My cyclone fell apart, blocked the drain pipe, and the sump pressurised, blowing oil through the turbo seal. Yours will probably not be that, but, either way, check that pipe. Then the cyclone itself. Then the drain pipe from the turbo. One half (small bronze bush) was in the oil line rest must have gone through No1 cylinder. Not a mark on the head or piston but the piston is now 2mm lower than No 4 with a slight S bend in the con-rod. Not sure I can remove it up the bore. Might get away with one new con-rod & a turbo. The turbo fins are chewed up but the casing looks OK.
i have an an issue with the fuel cut off on my 300tdi. 10 days ago the engine wouldn't turn off so tested everything & then removed the solenoid and found the rubber part of the plunger had a chunk missing. Ordered new part and fitted and all was well again. Today, the same has happened to the new solenoid, a piece missing off the rubber
Performance Tuning for More Power. The 300tdi is a Land Rover Engine and by design offers the opportunity to upgrade horsepower and torque with bolt on options. The engine can be performance tuned so it becomes the perfect daily driver. In fact the 300tdi for the Defender is a detuned version of the same engine that was used in the Range Rover
My 1972 Series three 109 (Originally fitted with the 6 cylinder engine, now long gone), I have taken out the 2.5l Transit engine (Low powered) and just started to offer up the TDI300 engine from a 1995 Disco mk1. I have attached it up to the original gearbox (with overdrive fitted) and that fits fine as per various articles on websites.

Running the engine with your thumb over you could obviously feel a pronounced vacuum, but not painfully strong. Check the pipework with fairy liquid for bubbles. And the outer of the servo. Often corrosion around the M/S allows there to be a vacuum leak where the M/S bolts to the servo. IN64.
