Another possibility: when a new watch is released that has a better processor (next year, or perhaps the year after) that is sufficiently better than the SE as the cheapest model watch, then Apple will release a version of watchOS that enables AOD on the SE. I seriously suspect that there is no AOD mostly to create enough 2WBu3h.
